    "Food production has become more resilient, and modern agricultural practices have increased productivity while decreasing greenhouse gas emissions," said Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General. Dr. Pathak was speaking at the "Annual Conference of ICAR Directors, Vice Chancellors, and Industries - 2023" hosted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi from April 4th to 6th, 2023 at the National Agricultural Science Complex Centre in New Delhi.

     

  • Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela-2023 Concludes Successfully; Many Farmers Benefited from Live Demo of Climate Resilient Crop Varieties

    The three-day Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela (02-04 March, 2023) with the theme 'Nutritional, Food, and Environmental Security through millets (Sree Anna)' was hosted at the sprawling campus of ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. Two technical sessions were held on the third day of the mela. The first technical session was chaired by Dayashankar Singh, Head, Farmers Producers Organisation Association of Uttar Pradesh and Co-chaired by Dr Neeru Bhushan, ADG, IPM&TM, ICAR, New Delhi. Dr Ashok Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR-IARI welcomed the Chairman, Co-chairman and panellist of the session and requested to panellists to share their experiences of start-ups with farmers.

     

  • ICAR-CTCRI & Digital University Kerala to Collaborate on Agritech Research

    The Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI), a renowned ICAR research organisation in the country, and Digital University Kerala (DUK), India's 1st digital university, have agreed to work together on Agritech research by establishing a Centre of Excellence in agriculture technologies. Both institutions will collaborate to develop cutting-edge technologies to address value-chain issues in the agriculture sector throughout the country, leveraging their respective expertise.

     

  • Asian Buyers Increase Corn Purchases from India as Drought Cuts Production in Argentina

    Feed millers in Asia are increasing corn purchases from India as a severe drought reduces production in Argentina, according to traders. South American countries are in the third year of a prolonged drought, which has forced many of the region's governments to declare a state of emergency. Argentina is currently suffering from the worst drought in 60 years. Argentina and neighbouring countries have been suffering from drought conditions since 2019, with the last four months of 2022 receiving less than half of the average precipitation: the lowest rainfall in 35 years. This, combined with high temperatures, has caused widespread crop failure.

     

  • IIT Kanpur Launches 2-Year MTech Program on Drones; Admission Based on GATE Score

    Drones can be used in a wide variety of applications. Drones have become a critical means of supporting communities and businesses all over the world, whether they are employed in search and rescue missions, delivering medical supplies or food, fighting wildfires, or assisting with crop management. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur's Department of Aerospace Engineering will offer a dedicated MTech programme in unmanned aerial systems (UAV), making it one of the first in the country, according to the institute's director, Abhay Karandikar.
