Walmart Foundation Collaborates with S M Sehgal Foundation
S M Sehgal Foundation announced the implementation of a two-year project on ‘Bolstering Farmer Producer Organizations in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka’ with philanthropic grant funding of INR 70 million from the Walmart Foundation. The project will directly impact 10 FPOs in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka and reach out to 5,000 smallholder farmers (FPO members) and a population of 25,000 people.

Bharat Certis Collaborates with Plantix
Bharat Certis AgriScience Ltd, a group company of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) specializing in crop protection products announced has collaborated with Plantix, an e-commerce and crop advisory platform for farmers to sell their products on their app.

Best Agrolife Gets Registration of Crucial Corn Herbicide
Best Agrolife Limited has been granted the registration for the indigenous manufacturing of Tembotrione technical 94% 9(4) by the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee in the 439th meeting. The company has decided to launch its commercial formulation under the brand name ‘Tombo’ in early June,22. Commenting on this new development Vimal Alawadhi, MD, Best Agrolife Ltd said, “Corn demand in the domestic and global market is fast increasing as this cereal crop is highly sought as a staple food, animal, poultry feed, and for industrial uses. In the future corn will also contribute substantially to Methanol production.

Sulphur Mills Launches Imara, JudwaaG & Reap Products
For the first time in the world, a combination of insecticide and nutrients in the form of WG formulation has been developed by Sulphur Mills limited to combat the deadly pest - yellow stem borer. Imara, Judwaa G and Reap products were launched at Hotel Radisson, Zirakpur. Hitesh Patel, Vice President of Marketing at Sulphur mills limited said, “India ranks second in terms of rice production but lacks in terms of productivity. One of the major yield reductions happens due to pest attacks. Among these pests, yellow stem borer is known for reducing the yield by 20% in early planted paddy and by 80% in late-planted paddy.

Amazon Launches Smart Commerce 'Digital Dukaans'
Amazon India has announced the launch of Smart Commerce, an initiative to transform local stores into Digital Dukaans and accelerate the company's pledge to digitally transform one crore small businesses by 2025. According to reports, over 1.5 lakh neighborhood stores sell online through Amazon.in.Amit Agarwal, SVP, India and Emerging Markets at Amazon said,"We are humbled by how neighborhood stores from across India are taking advantage of our local shops on Amazon programme to go online and grow their business, with over 1.5 lakh stores already selling on Amazon.in within two years of launch.

Farmers are Distressed Over the Low Market Prices of Onion Due to the Early Monsoon
Due to excessive rainfall in Maharashtra, farmers have switched to cash crops such as sugarcane as the prices of onions have dropped severely. Some of them have grown both types of crops. According to the state agriculture department, during the Rabi season, onions were grown on 40,000 hectares in Marathwada alone.
