Agriculture Department in Guntur Seizes Unauthorized Fertilizers & Pesticides worth Rs. 1.5 crore
The agriculture department officials in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh have been conducting raids to combat the sale of unauthorized fertilizers and pesticides to farmers. The officials have seized fertilizers and pesticides worth Rs 1.5 crore in various regions of the district in the past week. The sale of unauthorized and low-quality pesticides at lower prices has been causing significant losses to farmers in the region.

OUAT Farmers' Fair 2023 Set to Begin on Feb 27 in Bhubaneshwar
The much-anticipated OUAT Farmers' Fair 2023, organised by India’s second oldest agricultural institute -Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), is set to begin in Bhubaneshwar on February 27. The 2-day international event will conclude on February 28.

FSSAI Introduces Comprehensive Group Standard for Millets Ensuring Availability of Good Quality Produce
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has recently introduced a comprehensive group standard for millets in India, which will be enforced from September 1 onwards. The group standard for millets enforced by FSSAI includes guidelines for eight quality factors, which consist of setting limits for moisture content, uric acid content, extraneous matter, other edible grains, defects, weevilled grains, and immature and shriveled grains. The aim of the standard is to ensure the availability of good quality (standardized) millets in domestic and global markets.

Haryana's Budget 2023-2024 to Focus on Sustainable Agri Schemes, Natural Farming & Millets
The Haryana government's plans for the agriculture sector in the 2023–24 fiscal year, which were released on Thursday, will be centred on the promotion of millets and a drive for natural farming along with direct seeding of rice. Approx 18 per cent of Haryana's income comes from agriculture and related industries. In the budget estimates that chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave to the state assembly on Thursday, the sector was given Rs 8,316 crore (19 per cent more money than the previous year), despite the fact that he said the sector was facing many difficulties, including the sustainability of agriculture in the face of climate change.

Bayer Expands Its 'Nutrient Gap Initiative' to Help End Malnutrition
As part of the company's vision of "Health for All, Hunger for None," Bayer is expanding one of its signature sustainability programmes, the Nutrient Gap Initiative, to improve access to both nutritious food and safety net supplementation. The program's initial goal was to provide essential vitamins and minerals to 50 million people in underserved communities by 2030, with a focus on nutritional supplementation, which is a critical tool for creating a safety net for malnutrition in these communities. On the second anniversary of the initiative, the company is expanding the programme to help close the nutrient gap through the most basic source: food, specifically fruits, vegetables, and grains.
