Uttar Pradesh Gears Up for Sri Anna Mahotsav to Promote Millet Usage
In a bid to raise awareness about the benefits of millets and their cultivation, the UP government is all set to host the Sri Anna Mahotsav from October 27 to 29, 2023. This three-day event, held at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in the state capital, aims to encourage the use of millets and recognize the efforts of progressive farmers who have contributed to millet production.

Stubble Burning Resumes, Casting a Shadow on Delhi's Air Quality Before Winter
Delhi's air quality significantly worsened on a recent Sunday, marking the first time it reached the "very poor" category since May 17. Monitoring agencies reported that the 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) for the capital was 313 on that day, a notable decline from 248 on the previous Saturday. The last time Delhi experienced such poor air quality was in May, with an AQI of 336. Nearly all areas in Delhi registered "very poor" air quality on this day.

G. Saikesh Goud, an IIT BHU graduate with a passion for entrepreneurship, joined forces with his co-founders, Sami and Suribabu, to revolutionize the local poultry business in Hyderabad. They left their tech jobs and ventured into the retail meat sector, specifically selling country chickens (known as Natu kodi/ Desi Murgi locally). The trio founded a startup called Country Chicken Co. in 2020 with the goal of transforming country chicken farming and retailing in a sustainable way.

India's Groundwater Levels to Decline to 'Low' by 2025: UN
A recent report by the United Nations, titled "Interconnected Disaster Risks Report 2023" and published by the United Nations University – Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), has raised concerns about environmental tipping points and their potential consequences. The report highlights that certain areas in the Indo-Gangetic basin in India have already surpassed a critical threshold in groundwater depletion, and the entire northwestern region of the country is anticipated to face severely limited groundwater availability by 2025.
