  • IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall & Dense Fog In Several States

    On Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light to moderate to heavy rain in numerous states until January 11th. It also predicted intense fog in western Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours, as well as in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim over the next two days. The weather forecasting office said in its latest report on Friday that no cold wave conditions are expected over north India in the next 4-5 days.

  • Wheat Sowing Decreases Marginally at 333.97 Lakh Hectares

    According to the latest statistics given by the Agriculture Ministry on Friday, the area sown to wheat, the principal rabi crop, has decreased by 1.71 percent to 333.97 lakh hectares so far in the ongoing 2021-22 rabi season due to poorer coverage in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh. Rabi (winter) crops such as wheat are planted in October and harvested in April. In the previous year, wheat was planted on 339.81 lakh hectares. According to the report, the area sown to wheat in Uttar Pradesh was reduced by 3.11 lakh hectares, 1.35 lakh hectares in Haryana, 1.20 lakh hectares in Maharashtra, and 1.14 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh.

  • National Capital’s Air Quality Improves To’ Poor’ From ‘Very Poor’

    According to data from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), just a day after the national capital experienced intermittent rain spells, air quality in Delhi has improved to 'poor' from the previous ‘very poor category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) standing at 273. Meanwhile, the national capital had a minimum temperature of 13.5 degrees Celsius on Friday, six degrees above average, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light rain, hail, and thunderstorms throughout the day.
