  • Tomato Prices Skyrocket in Southern States

    In the wake of heavy rainfall damaging crops & the subsequent flood making transportation difficult, the cost of tomato prices has skyrocketed in southern states. The wholesale prices of tomatoes have touched Rs 120 kg in Chala, the biggest wholesale market in Thiruvananthapuram. The main suppliers of the vegetables are Tamil Nadu & Karnataka. The traders said that due to the heavy rains, the crops have been damaged. The retail Prices range between Rs 140 to 160, while the wholesale price is Rs 120 kg. The rates have been affected in wake of heavy rains, which have damaged crops.

  • AISTA: India Exports 9.39 Lakh Tonnes of Sugar This Marketing Year

    Sugar mills have exported 9.39 lakh tonnes of sweetener till the first week of December during the ongoing 2021- 2022 marketing year that started from 1st October & are not in hurry to sell further stick in view of the sluggish global price trend, the trade body AISTA said this on 7th December (Tuesday). About 4.60 lakh tonnes of sugar is in transit, the All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA) said. The Mills have contracted to export 33 lakh tonnes of sugar without government subsidy so far 2021-2022 marketing year, it added.

     

  • Delhi Pollution: Air Quality Remains Stagnant in Very Poor Category

    The air quality in Delhi remained stagnant in the very poor category for several days in the past week. An AQI between zero & 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 & 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 & 200’moderate’, 2001 & 300 ‘poor’, 301 & 400 ‘very poor’, & 401 & 500 ‘severe’. Meanwhile, AQI in Gurugram & Noida was recorded at 235 & 286 respectively, both in the ‘poor’ category at 7.40 am.
