As we all know, Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy and more than 58% of people in the country depend on Agriculture & allied sectors for their livelihood. But sadly, the youth of India are not aware about this sector.
This is large because agriculture in India is very unorganized. And to bring stability and organization in this sector, the government and various institutions have been offering scholarships to attract students to pursue careers in Agriculture.
Scholarships in Agriculture
Below we have mentioned some of the scholarships available for Agri students;
Netaji Subhas- ICAR international fellowships
The ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) provides the Netaji Subhas- ICAR international fellowships for Indian students who want to study in India or overseas. The duration of the program is three years.
Eligibility Criteria
The (Indian and international) applicants should meet the following criteria:
Should hold an M.A. degree in agriculture and allied sciences.
Should have an overall GPA score of 65%.
Should not be more than 35 years of age at the time of application. However, candidates serving at the ICAR-AU system are eligible to apply until 40 years of age
Benefits:
For Indian Students Studying Overseas

ICAR will cover the economy flight tickets of Indian students traveling from their nearest airport to the place of their residence or university.

The ICAR will give a scholarship amount of USD 2,000 every month.
For International Students Studying in India

The institution will cover economy flight tickets of the international students.

The international students will receive INR 40,000 per month.

They will also receive INR 25,000 per annum as contingent expenses.
The Indian Agri Fellowship:
The University of commons provides the Indian Agri Fellowship to students aspiring to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
Benefits: This scholarship covers the living, travelling & food expenses for 12 months.
The selected candidates will receive Rs 3 lakhs as a stipend amount for one year.
Eligibility:
The candidates must have an undergraduate or post graduate degree in agriculture, Social work or Business administration. They should be between 20 to 35 years of age & must be fluent in Telugu, English & Hindi.
UAS Bangalore Vedanth Scholarship:
The University of Agriculture Science in Bangalore provides some of the best scholarships to the agriculture students.
Benefits: The Scholarship provides a grant of 160000 that is divided over 12 months.
Eligibility:
Candidates should apply for this scholarship in the 1st year of BSc. Agriculture.
They must be from Kannada background
Their family must be working as farmers.
The candidates should have studied Class 1 to 10 in rural areas.
The family income should not be more than 1 lakh per annum.
T.K. Gurusiddapa Scholarship:
The University of Agriculture Sciences, Karnataka offers this scholarship to students who want to pursue a BSc. Agriculture.
Benefits:
The university offers a concession to the selected students. The amount is sum of interest accrued on the scholarship each month.
Eligibility:
Candidates should be in the first year of BSc. Agriculture
Family income should not be more than 1 lakh per annum
