EF Polymer Helps Farmers in UP, Rajasthan Save Water & Boost Profitability Using its Biodegradable Polymer

In an effort to tackle the organic waste and water scarcity problem in agriculture, EF Polymer Private Ltd. ran a program in 2020 in several districts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh covering crops like wheat, groundnut, onions, cauliflowers, and other vegetables.

With over 3500 farmers engaged in the program, the program saw tremendous results regarding the improvement in crop productivity in the following ways:

  • 28% higher yield was observed in wheat crops/acre and

  • 18% higher yield observation was observed in bottle gourd crop/acre

The total value income enhanced as compared to the base year showed was nearly INR 5400 extra income for the wheat farmers per acre and INR 14,000 extra income for the bottle gourd farmers per acre. Apart from the financial profits, the program also succeeded to use 40% less water, and 20% less fertilizer to go on to increase the yield by 15% and boost the income of farmers by 10-30%.

All the abovementioned facts and figures are a result of the Fasal Amrit, a 100% organic and fully biodegradable natural water retention polymer to reduce water and fertilizer requirements to avoid low yield due to missing micronutrients all the while, increasing the overall profits by more than 30% as proven by the program ran by EF Polymer Private Ltd.

How does the polymer work?

The polymer can absorb water equivalent to 100 times its weight and allows a controlled mix of micronutrients specific to the crop soil mix. It releases water very slowly into the soil to extend the duration of soil moisture. The raw material is collected from city waste and juice-producing companies and then converted into an organic super-absorbent polymer and sold to FPOs, distributors, and local customers.

Fasal Amrit can either be directly mixed with soil, with any fertilizer, or with seeds and propagated in the field using hands or seed drills.

“In my 1-acre Mirzapur farm, Fasal Amrit helped me earn a profit of Rs 1000 and also saved the cost of irrigation,” attested Rajesh Kumar Pathak, a UP farmer.

Benefits of Using Fasal Amrit:

  • The polymer maintains moisture in the soil for as long as 10-15 days, rejuvenating the polluted soil for organic farming.

  • It prevents evaporation and leaching of water and nutrients, making the water requirement for irrigation less by 30-40%.

  • It is 100% biodegradable after 6 months and works as an organic fertilizer after degradation.

  • It helps reduce fertilizer requirements by more than 20% while increasing the overall profit by more than 20%.

How to use Fasal Amrit:

Fasal Amrit is used just like a fertilizer. Start by mixing the fertilizer with Fasal Amrit in the soil evenly and then apply this mixture to the ground by using a seed drink or fertilizer applicator.

For a confined area (less than 20 square meters). It is recommended to apply manually. Completely turn over the ground by using a tiling machine. Keep in mind that hills and slide slopes require work done by hand. Trample the ground and then start seeding, grass planting, or spray seeding. And to finish the process, water the ground.
