To provide some relief to farmers affected due to the nationwide lockdown, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government on Thursday (26th March 2020) announced that it will transfer the first instalment of Rs 2,000 to around 8.69 crore beneficiaries under the PM-Kisan yojana in April. This was the much-needed announcement that farmers across the country were waiting for in this lockdown situation.
Announcing the relief measures in just 36 hours of nationwide lockdown, Nirmala Sithraman, Union Finance Minister said that "Farmers get Rs 6,000 annually from PM-Kisan scheme (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana). We will now be releasing the first instalment of that as a front-loaded matter, so that at the beginning of the year farmers will get Rs 2,000".
Sitharaman added that this financial aid will benefit around 8.69 crore farmers who feed 1.3 billion population in India.
Under government’s ambitious Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the Government transfers a fixed amount of Rs 6,000 every year, in three equal instalments of Rs 2000 each, directly into the bank accounts of the farmers in the country, subject to certain exclusion criteria pertaining to higher income status.

Follow the steps given below to check PM-Kisan Beneficiary Status;
Step 1- Open the official website of PM-Kisan
Step 2 - Check for ‘Farmers corner’ at the menu bar
Step 3 – Now click ‘know beneficiary status’
Step 4- Enter any of the three -Aadhaar Number or Account Number or Mobile Number
Step 5 – Then click on get data
Step 6 – Your status will be displayed on the screen
