Knowledge Portal for Khadi is a platform created by the Center of Excellence for Khadi to provide design guidance to Khadi institutions. Preeta Verma, CEO-KVIC, launched the portal on July 14, 2022. KVIC, Ministry of MSME, and NIFT have established the Khadi Center of Excellence to support Khadi Institutions.

Knowledge Portal for Khadi aims to disseminate design knowledge to a larger group of Khadi institutions. The portal intends to create design intervention by simplifying trends that are specifically appropriate for Khadi. Volume-I conceptualizes and presents four stories/design directions.

Each story has a central theme, a colour palette, and woven design, print, texture, and surface directions. Every story has been divided into two sections: Home and Apparel. Aside from themes, the portal offers size charts, silhouette boards, buttons and closures, seams and finishes, and seams and finishes for both home and apparel.

The information will be updated twice a year to provide seasonal and trend-based directions. The information is expected to be useful not only to Khadi institutions, but also to organizations that provide assistance in developing Khadi apparel, home products, and packaging.

The textiles shown in the portal as direction have been specially woven using different thicknesses of Khadi yarns to experiment with different textures and structures for home and apparel.
