"Natural Farming with Modern Technology is Need of Hour," Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave a speech at a review meeting on the Rabi productivity of four divisions—Gorakhpur, Basti, Azamgarh, and Devipatan—held on Monday at Mahant Digvijaynath Park in this city. He urged farmers to choose natural farming methods while also using modern technology.

Organic farming, when compared to conventional agriculture, uses fewer pesticides, reduces soil erosion, reduces nitrate leaching into groundwater and surface water, and recycles animal wastes back into the farm. These advantages are offset by higher consumer food costs and overall lower yields.

"The best way to increase agricultural productivity and help crop growers the most is through cow-based natural farming and contemporary technology. To satisfy current market demand and agroclimatic zone compatibility, farmers should switch to horticulture, vegetable farming, and mixed cropping, "the CM emphasized.

In addition, he noted that Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in the nation and that agriculture is its primary industry. "The best water resources and most fertile land are in UP. Despite only having 12% of the nation's total cultivable land, our state contributes 20% of the nation's total food grain production due to the land and water resources fertility," UP Chief Minister added.

He emphasized further that utilizing high-quality seeds and technology could increase the state's current agricultural productivity by as much as threefold. "In terms of nationwide wheat production, UP is first. The state government provides water and seeds to farmers when they need them, ensuring their welfare. And every district has a Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Farmers now have access to a crop insurance programme, "CM added.

Solar agriculture pumps are being installed under PM Kusum Yojana to expand irrigation facilities further and to implement the Community Mini Green Tubewell Scheme broadly in each district. According to Yogi, the Saryu canal project has allowed irrigation on additional lands in nine East UP districts.

The CM also ordered all DMs to establish a sufficient number of paddy procurement centres. According to him, approximately 3 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have so far been purchased in UP. Yogi paid a visit to the agricultural exhibition taking place there and honoured those who had benefited from various agricultural programmes there.
