Sandalwood and Aromatherapy

Sandalwood (known as “Chandan” in Hindi) is a popular aromatherapy ingredient. Essential oil of Sandalwood is extracted from roots and wood of Santalum album, which is the scientific name of Sandalwood tree of East India. The older the wood, the better the oil and scent. It improves for 50-60 years.

Do you know this is one of the world’s most valuable trees?

4 Best ways to use Sandalwood oil at home

  • Add a few drops to your body lotion

  • Add a few drops in water and heat it to produce a lovely aroma around the house. You can also use it in a diffuser.

  • Add the oil to your bath water.

  • You can apply on skin after diluting it in carrier oils like coconut oil or almond oil. Please do a patch test first to rule out the possibility of any allergy, although sandalwood allergies are rare.
