The Amazing Health Benefits of Eating Black Rice

In ancient time, eating black rice was prohibited in China. But some Chinese still consumed it to cure kidney, stomach related diseases. When this black rice started showing benefits, some great Chinese men stopped its public consumption. Since then, black rice has only been the property of the elites and that too in limited quantities and under scrutiny. Ordinary people were not allowed to consume it. This rice variety is also called as "Forbidden" or "Emperor's" rice because it was reserved for the Emperor in ancient China and used as a tribute food. 

But in this modern world, black rice has become popular among all classes of people. In India, its cultivation is mainly done in the northeast region and southern parts. This rice is full of medicinal properties.  

Farming started in Assam  

The first black rice cultivation in India was started in 2011 by Upendra Raba, an Assamese farmer.  

Rich in nutrients 

Black rice is similar to common rice but it is rich in calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc along with more vitamins B and E than common white Rice. 

Benefits of eating black rice 

  • Keeps obesity away and helps you to reduce weight. 

  • Makes the digestive system strong. 

  • Black rice is beneficial for diabetic patient. 

  • Black rice is also best for heart disease. Anthocyanin is found in black rice and this is  an element that reduces the risk of heart attack.  

  • Eliminates physical weakness. 

  • Rich in anti-oxidant properties and anti-oxidant helps in flushing out the toxins present in our body . 

  • Black rice has more protein than any other rice. 

  • Consuming it purifies the blood. 

  • It requires less water than common white rice. 

  • Black rice has a good amount of fiber. Which prevents breast cancer by meeting nutritional deficiencies. 

  • Apart from physical weakness, eating black rice is also beneficial for prevention of Alzheimer's, diabetes and even cancer. 

Black Rice Recipe: 

  • First of all heat water in a pan, then add some rice and ginger and boil it for some time. 

  • Once cooked, leave the rice to cool down.  Then in a measuring cup put lemon, ginger and vinegar and mix them well.  

  • Then put rice, mango, basil and red chilli together in a bowl.  

  • Then sprinkle the vinegar on the rice and mix it well. 

  • Your black rice is ready to eat.
