The Division of Genetics at the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi is calling for applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position under a DST-SERB-funded research project. The selected candidate will work on investigating resistance mechanisms in tropical field corn against common pests. This position is purely contractual, offering a great opportunity for qualified candidates to contribute to advanced agricultural research.

Monthly Emoluments

JRF: ₹37,000 + 27% HRA (1st and 2nd year); SRF: ₹42,000 + 27% HRA (3rd year)

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

  1. Educational Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, or equivalent professional courses.

  2. Selection Process: Must meet one of the following criteria as per DST guidelines:

    • Qualified through the National Eligibility Test (e.g., CSIR-UGC-NET, GATE).

    • Selection through a national-level exam conducted by a central government agency (e.g., DST, DBT, ICAR, IISc, etc.).

  3. Additional Requirement: Two years of research experience.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in maize breeding.

  • Knowledge of Breeding Management Systems and Genomic Prediction Models.

  • Proficiency in molecular research, computer usage, and data analytics.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years (age relaxation applicable as per government norms, five years for SC/ST & women, and three years for OBC candidates).
