The current update on the 7th Pay Commission's fitment factor is as follows: The long wait for central government employees who have been clamoring for the hike in fitment factor could be over next month. According to media sources, the much-anticipated discussion on increasing the fitment factor for central government employees under the 7th Pay Commission could take place next month.

According to the Zeebiz website, a draft of the fitment factor hike will be produced and shared with the administration. After the draft is submitted, a meeting to discuss the matter is expected to take place by the end of July. When the fitment factor is increased, central government employees' salaries will rise significantly.

According to multiple media sources, the government may shortly approve hiking the fitting factor. The federal government employees' unions have long demanded that the basic salary be increased from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 and that the fitment factor be increased from 2.57 to 3.68.

If the government announces a hike in the fitment factor for central govt. employees, their salaries will rise as a result.

In reality, as the fitting factor rises, the minimum pay would rise as well. Employees presently receive a salary based on a fitment factor of 2.57 percent, which, if increased to 3.68 percent, would result in an increase of Rs 8,000 in the basic salary. This is the central government's minimum wage.

Salary Calculation for Hike in Fitment Factor Under 7th Pay Commission:

Employees' basic wage will increase to Rs 26,000 if the fitment ratio is increased to 3.68. According to the 2.57 fitment factor, if your minimum salary is Rs 18,000, you will receive Rs 46,260 (Rs 18,000 X 2.57 = 46,260) without allowances.

Your salary will be Rs 95,680 (26000X3.68 = 95,680) if the fitment factor is 3.68.

In June 2017, the Union Cabinet adopted the 7th Pay Commission's proposals with 34 changes. The new pay scales increased entry-level basic pay from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000 per month, while the highest level of pay, Secretary, increased from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh.
