The Ministry of Education has announced that the Department of School Education and Literacy, in collaboration with the National Institute of Open Schooling, will work to develop customized courses for youth enrolled in the newly launched Agneepath Yojana to help them complete their school education.

Agniveers who have completed their matriculation or 10th pass would be offered customized courses by NIOS to help them pass their Class 12 exams. The Department of School Education and Literacy would design these Agniveer courses in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence.

"NIOS's special program will facilitate enrolment, course development, student support, self-learning material provision, accreditation of study centers, personal contact program, evaluation, and certification. The open schooling system of NIOS, which is extremely user-friendly and accessible to all from anywhere, at any time, opens its doors to all Agniveers under the Agnepath Scheme," according to a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau of India.

According to the Ministry of Education, the 12th class pass Certificate awarded to Agniveers after passing their exams will be recognized for both employment and higher education purposes throughout the country. The content of these courses would be curated based on the fields of study relevant to Agniveers under this scheme.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, also took to social media to announce the collaboration between NIOS, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Education under the newly launched Yojana.

The Agneepath Scheme is a pan-India merit-based recruitment scheme that focuses on enrolling youth in India's armed and defence services such as the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Those who apply for the scheme must have completed their matriculation or 10th pass, if not 12th pass. Agniveers would then be trained for four years on the regular cadre of the armed forces under this scheme.
