Tobacco Board's Growers' Welfare Scheme members in the southern region of Andhra Pradesh will receive a special interest-free crop credit at a rate of Rs 10,000. The loan has received approval from the central government.

A. Sridhar Babu, Executive Director of Tobacco Board, announced in an official statement on Tuesday that Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, had given his approval for Rs 28.11 crore to extend special interest-free crop loans to each member of Tobacco Board's Growers' Welfare Schemes under Southern Regions from the Tobacco Growers' Welfare Fund, which will benefit 28,112 grower members.

The loan is anticipated to aid Virginia tobacco growers to overcome the damage brought on by post-Mandous cyclone rains.

The Tobacco Board has asked the commissioner of agriculture, special chief secretary (agriculture), and district collectors of Prakasam, Palnadu, Bapatla, and Nellore to count the crop loss and offer assistance through the State Disaster Relief Fund.

About Tobacco Farming

The botanical name for tobacco is Nicotiana tabacum. The tobacco plant has thick, hairy stems and broad, simple, oval-shaped leaves. Our central nervous system's activity is accelerated by nicotine, a psychoactive chemical found in tobacco plants that also has calming effects. Tobacco can be consumed in a variety of ways, including cigarettes, pipe tobacco, snuff, and snus.

Huge clusters of tubular, red, white, cream, or pink blooms that can measure between 3.5 and 5.5 centimetres in length are produced by the tobacco plant.

Organic tobacco contains harmala alkaloids as well as the stimulant alkaloid nicotine. Dried tobacco leaves are used to make the majority of cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, and flavor-infused shisha tobacco.
