Bank Holiday 2021-22: Banks to Remain Close for 8 Days in December & 12 Days in January

If you have important bank work that cannot be done online, then you must read this news. It must be noted that there will be more bank holidays in the month of December & January than normal. Because, of this, if you have any important work or transaction to be completed then do it before the weekends.

If you have important bank work that cannot be done online, then you must read this news. It must be noted that there will be more bank holidays in the month of December & January than normal. Because, of this, if you have any important work or transaction to be completed then do it before the weekends.

Let me tell you that these holidays are going to fall at different places in the different banks. However, the online services will continue during this period.

Bank Union Two Day Strike

In the protests against the proposed privatization of the banks by bank unions in the coming weeks are called a 2-day strike. The bank branches will remain closed for 2 days on December 16 (Thursday) & December 17 (Friday) due to this banking strike. Apart from this, the banks will remain closed in Meghalaya & Chhattisgarh on December 18 due to the Death Anniversary of Soso Tham & Guru Ghasidas Jayanti. At the same time, on December 19, the bank will remain closed in Goa due to Goa Liberation Day.

  • 16th December: Bank Union Strike

  • 17th December: Bank Union Strike

  • 18th December: U Soso Tham’s Death Anniversary (in Shillong)

  • 19th December: Christmas Eve (in Mizoram, Meghalaya) 

  • 25th December: Christmas Day

  • 30th December: Tamu Losar (Sikkim, Meghalaya)

  • 31st December: New Year’s Eve (Manipur)

Banks to Remain Closed for 12 Days in January

In January 2022, the official holidays will be of 12 days. Out of this, 5 days will be Sundays & Saturdays. Apart from this, the banks will also be closed on the occasion of the New Year.

  • 1st January: Saturday Closed on New Year’s day across the country

  • 2nd January: Sunday

  • 9th January: Sunday (Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti)

  • 11th January: Missionary Day

  • 12th January: Swami Vivekananda Jayanti in West Bengal

  • 14th January: Maghu Bighu, maker Sankranti, Tusu Puja banned in many states

  • 15th January: Banned in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu on Saturday Pongal/Thiruvalluvar Day

  • 16th January: Sunday

  • 23rdJanuary: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti 

  • 25th January: State Foundation Day

  • 26th January: Republic Day

  • 31st January: May-Dam-Me-Phi in Assam
