G7 Summit: PM Modi emphasizes India's commitment to inclusive technology, sustainable energy, and global cooperation on pressing issues

G7 Summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a keynote address on June 14, 2024 at the Outreach Session on ‘Artificial Intelligence, Energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean’ during the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy. Commemorating the Group's 50th anniversary, Prime Minister Modi expressed his satisfaction in attending the Summit following his re-election in the world's largest democratic exercise.

Highlighting the importance of a human-centric approach in technology, Prime Minister Modi shared India’s achievements in using digital technology for effective public service delivery. He underscored India's commitment to inclusive progress through its 'AI for All' mission and emphasized the role of international collaboration, noting India’s role as a founding member of the Global Partnership for AI.

Discussing India's energy strategy, Prime Minister Modi outlined the principles of availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability guiding India's pathway towards achieving NET ZERO emissions by 2070. He urged global participation in India’s Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), encouraging a worldwide tree plantation campaign launched on World Environment Day under the banner ‘Plant4Mother’ (Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam).

G7 Summit: Giorgia Meloni's Remark

Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni emphasized the session’s focus on critical global challenges, including Artificial Intelligence, the Mediterranean crisis, new partnerships with Africa, and climate change, urging pragmatic approaches devoid of ideology.

PM Modi reiterated India's commitment to championing the concerns of the Global South, particularly Africa, highlighting India's pride in the admission of the African Union as a permanent member of the G20 during its presidency.
