Good News! LPG Cylinder will be Distributed Free of Cost for Next Two Years under PMUY; Apply This Way

LPG consumers are worried due to rising prices of gas cylinders hence government has brought some relief measures for the people.  As per reports, the government is preparing to distribute free gas cylinders to people in large numbers.  

The Center has decided to provide free gas to one crore families of the country under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for the next two years. Moreover, the government has been providing free gas cylinders to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana since 2016. 

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, the central government had extended the period to take advantage of this facility till September -2020 due to the corona crisis.  

As per the Union Budget presented on 1st February 2021, the govt has announced to add 1 crore more beneficiaries to the list of Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana. Along with this 100 new districts will be added to the Gas cylinder distribution in the next two  years. 

In budget 2021-22, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has extended the duration up to two years. It was announced in the budget that under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, one crore more families will be distributed gas connections for free.  Moreover, with this, the goal of 100 percent clean fuel for cooking in homes will be achieved. 

The government has made it clear that the needs of about one crore families left outside the purview of domestic LPG gas connection will be fulfilled in the next two years.  

Important Documents for PMUY 

  • BPL Certificate issued by the Municipality Chairman (urban region)/ Panchayat Pradhan (rural area) 

  • One Photo Identity proof (Aadhaar Card or Voter ID)

  • BPL Ration Card

  • Aadhaar no. of all the members of the family  

  • A recent passport-sized photograph

  • Caste Certificate

  • Address Proof  

  • 14 points Declaration in the prescribed format and dully signed by the applicant

  • Jandhan Bank Account details/ Bank Passbook      

How to Apply for Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana? 

Online application form can be obtained by following the simple steps given below- 

  • Go to the official website i.e. https://pmuy.gov.in. 

  • Click on “Download Form” tab given on the homepage.

  • Links for all the types of forms available will appear.

  • Click on “Ujjwala Form Hindi” or (Ujjwala Form English) link as per your language preference.

  • Application form pdf will appear.

  • Download the application form pdf and take a printout of it.

After filling the application form, applicants have to submit it at the LPG Distributor office. While submitting the application form, applicant woman also has to submit aadhaar number of all the family members of the household, Jandhan Bank Account, and detailed address.
