The recent downpour in Delhi-NCR was accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour. The IMD predicts even heavier rainfall for the capital over the coming weekend.

The good news for some is that these wet conditions are expected to usher in the official arrival of the Southwest Monsoon in several regions. Over the next 2-3 days, areas in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Jammu, Uttarakhand, and Punjab are likely to see the monsoon's progression.
