IG Deccan, the joint venture company of IG International that is committed to the cultivation of avocados in India, announced on 27 May, that it has established a collaboration with Eurosemillas and joined the pioneering green motion project bandwagon.
This association would fortify IG International’s global leadership rank and add a robust partnership with the cognizance of comprehensive agricultural innovation to strengthen their grip on superior seeding and supreme quality cultivation for avocados. Green Motion is an international platform that broadens the varieties and rootstocks available to growers, advances the creation of diversified and sustainable markets, and facilitates access to the University of California, Riverside’s (UCR) germplasm collection.
The platform was born after a groundbreaking partnership announced earlier this year between Spain-based Eurosemillas, a global leader in the development and commercialization of agricultural innovation, and UCR, whose 70-year-old avocado breeding programs house one of the most elite germplasm collections of scion and rootstock material in the world.
Green Motion is conducting trials of varieties that have already shown excellent potential at UCR’s test sites in California, a region with a Mediterranean climate and growing conditions. Acclaimed as the leading fresh fruit importer in India, IG International is entrenched with a renowned reputation for more than 50 years in this market segment.
The company’s organized and strategic sourcing system, augmented by a seamless supply chain with a well-connected overseas procurement network, enables them to import best-of-breed fruits from 22 different countries.
