IITF 2021: Piyush Goyal Inaugurates India International Trade Fair

The 40th edition of IITF, a magnum of the India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) , began on 14th November 2021 in halls of the International Exhibition cum Convention Centre (IECC) at 10 am IST ( Indian standard time)

This year, the fair assumes a special significance as it coincides with celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’- 75 years of India’s Independence. The Fair focuses on its theme, "Atma Nirbhar Bharat", which aims to promote investment and self-reliance in diverse sectors to meet domestic demand and be a part of the global supply chain ecosystem.

This 40th edition of the international trade fair was inaugurated by mr. Piyush Goyal the current Indian Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textile.

The opening address of IITF 2021 was given by LC Goyal, the IAS officer who currently holds the office of the chief officer of the ITPO. He mainly addressed the challenges that the ITPO had to conquer to organise an event of this scale after the pandemic.

And was happy to announce that even after the pandemic the current trade fair was able to host a total of more than 3000 exhibitors in 70000 sq meters.

He soon gave way for the representatives of the partner state Bihar and the focus states of this year's international trade fair. Which were the states of Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. 

The special secretary of the govt of Bihar Dilip Kumar was the chief representative of the state in the event.

While Jitendra Kumar Singh the director of industries of the govt of Jharkhand and the Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises were the speakers for the state of Jharkhand and Uttarpradesh respectively.

Piyush Goyal the Minister of Commerce & Industry inaugurated the 2021 session of the IITF with a speech on how Indian ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit needs to be stoked and how the international trade fair is just the place for that. Goyal also noted at the event that this worldwide expo highlighted "the five sutras of India." The Union Minister insisted that the 40th IITF will advocate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' programme and further promote the concept of 'Vocal for Local.'

And how Pragati Maidan has actually literally become the grounds to showcase the Indian transformation and progression of India to the world. The Union Minister also testified on the occasion that India was earning recognition as a reliable global supply chain partner. He went on to say that, despite the fact that the epidemic had caused many challenges, India did not fail to aid the world community. He then went on to say, "In the first four months, India received the most FDI ever. It is 62% greater than the FDI we had earned in the previous year". he also went on to say that this IITF will demonstrate that India is back in business soon. He was also of the opinion that Pragati Maidan has actually literally become the grounds to showcase Indian transformation and progression on the whole of the global stage.

He ended his speech by urging the audience to maintain the use of covid protocols while surfing through the stall and launching the IITF 2021 app.
