The weather department of India has warned of ‘fairly widespread Rainfalls’ over the southern states along with heavy falls over its coastal (peninsular) parts. The Meteorological Department of India has also predicted heavy to light shower over South Karnataka, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Tamil Nadu and J&K.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over the east-central Arabian Sea off south Karnataka coast and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level. The trough at mean sea level runs from north Sri Lanka coast to above cyclonic circulation and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level”, says IMD reports in its morning bulletin.
The Southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the entire country and simultaneously Northeast monsoon rains have commenced over Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala yesterday, the 16th October 2019.
“Under the influence of the above systems, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls likely over south peninsular India during the next 3-4 days”, the weather department said recently.
As per yesterday’s report, most places over Coastal Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal; Konkan & Goa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala lashed with light shower along with thunderstorm.
On the other hand, many places over South Coastal India and Northeastern states including Assam & Meghalaya, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Lakshadweep lashed with heavy rainfalls.
As per the report, maximum temperatures were recorded above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at few places over Jammu & Kashmir and Konkan & Goa and at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Kerala.
While the minimum temperature was recorded above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands; at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, West Rajasthan, and Saurashtra & Kutch.
