KJ Choupal: Dr V.V. Sadamate Talks About the Role of Technology Transfer Mechanism in Agriculture

It was a great honour to have a well-known agriculture specialist, Dr V.V. Sadamate as the Guest at KJ Choupal.

Dr V. V. Sadamate, former Adviser Agriculture, Planning Commission visited Krishi Jagran office today and met the Editor-in-chief of Krishi Jagran MC Dominic, Director Shiny Dominic, and other team members. 

KJ Team welcomed Dr Sadamate by presenting a small plant as a token of love and good luck.

While interacting with the employees at KJ Choupal, the agriculture expert talked about the Technology Transfer Mechanism and the important role it plays in the farming sector. It means the transfer and/or exchange of technology with industry, state and local governments, academia, and other federal agencies. Capturing the best information from Research Organizations and communicating the same thing to the farmers through which they try, learn, adopt and make the best use of it.

At the same time, farmers give feedback either positive or negative about how the information provided by the researchers helped them in their field. Therefore, there’s a constant give and take and constant interaction between them.

He also mentioned that KVK is also a great source of help to farmers as they provide important information about the latest technology and new or improved varieties of crops.

He further stated how agriculture is considered to be only related to crop production and field work but instead it is a broad industry that contains horticulture, dairy, poultry, fishery, sericulture and so on.   

Another point he mentioned was that youth is focusing on agribusiness and start-ups which gives more relevance to agriculture sector and hence will also impact the economy in a positive way.

He also joined us to celebrate the monthly award-giving ceremony and congratulated the best performers of June and felicitated them with mementos.

About Dr Sadamate

Dr Sadamate graduated from Pune Agriculture College in 1973. Later, he did his Masters's & Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension from IARI, New Delhi in 1975 and 1979 respectively.

He acquired post-Doctorate from the Michigan State University, the US as a Fulbright Senior Research Scholar in Advanced Extension Management Training at Wisconsin, Cornell Universities and the Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA), London, UK. He has rich experience for the last four decades in Agricultural Extension, Management, and Planning.
