The wholesale market at Lasalgaon,Maharashtra has reported 30% decline in the price of onion over last 2 weeks. As on November 27 it was Rs 35 and now Rs 25/ Kg instead of Rs 50-60/Kg in Delhi. It is due to the imposition of export restrictions and increasing arrivals of kharif crop.

However, prices showed a marginal rise on Tuesday at the country’s main onion wholesale market atLasalgaon in Mharashtra as rains under the influence of cyclone Ockhi slowed movement of the bulb. The impact of rainfall on harvest and movement of fresh onions will eigh over prices in the next few days. Now the further decline in the prices will depend on Ockhi-induced rainfall in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Onion supplies to Delhi have almost normalized with the supply from Maharashtra as Rajasthan supplies are drying up. President at Azadpur Onion Traders Association said that now we are receiving from Maharashtra, 45 trucks of onion instead of 5-10 trucks 10-12 days ago.
