PM Jan Dhan Yojana Latest News! No Debit Charges to be Levied by Banks, Check Other Important Details

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) which was introduced in 2014 has received immense popularity among common public since the launching date. Recently the center has taken a big decision related to Jan Dhan account.

According to recent reports, charges on deposits and withdrawals of funds by some banks will not be applicable to the Jan Dhan accounts and basic savings bank accounts.

Banking sources said ICICI Bank is not levying(imposing) charges on the basic savings bank deposit account (BSBA) and Jan Dhan accounts.

On the other hand, major banks including SBI, BOB, PNB have also not levied any charge on PM Jan Dhan accounts, said sources.

According to reports, Bank of Baroda is also not imposing charges on debit in the Jan Dhan Accounts. The bank has not levied any charges as on date for any debit to such accounts. The bank is adhering to the instructions of the RBI.

The bank is, however, contemplating a revision of its service charges and will inform the public after seeking internal approvals," says official.

On the issue of levy of different charges on various accounts, including loan accounts, as reported in some media reports, the charges are applied as per the industry practice and are transparent, banking sources said.
