According to Minister of Food and Civil Supplies R Sakkarapani, who examined the quality of the goods that would be distributed to the public, the initiative will be launched on January 9 by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, and ration card holders will get Pongal gift baskets till January 12. Collector S. Aneesh Sekhar stated in a press release from the district government that each hamper will include one kilogram of raw rice, one kg of sugar, a sugarcane, and one thousand rupees.

Except for the date of January 6, the distribution of tokens would continue until January 8, while the distribution of hampers would start on January 9. The specifics about the day and time of collection at the fair pricing store will be included in the tokens that are distributed. A goal to cover 200 households in rural regions and 200 to 250 families in urban areas every day is set in order to make distribution hassle-free at the stores.

The public can contact the Madurai District Supply Officer's office at 0452 2546127 with complaints about the Pongal gift baskets.

For the smooth distribution of the presents, the Collector has appealed to the public to cooperate and collect the tokens on time.
