This State Aims to Bring 20,000 ha land under Natural Farming and get five GI Registrations

Himachal Pradesh is a beautiful hill state, with majority of people residing in rural areas. With an aim to promote development in the state, the Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur came up with different ideas and plans, while presiding over the review meeting of Budget Assurance for 2020-21.

Plan to encourage Natural Farming – 

The government is taking all the necessary steps to promote natural farming in the state under Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojana. This will reduce the crop production cost and help farmers in fetching good prices for their produce. 

While presiding over the Review Meeting, CM Jai Ram Thakur said that the efforts are being made to bring around one lakh ha land in the state, under natural farming. And the target of covering 20,000 ha would be accomplished by the end of this year. 

Plan to promote Heeng and Saffron cultivation – 

Under Krishi Se Sampannta Yojana, the State Government of Himachal Pradesh is planning to cultivate first plantation of Heeng and saffron in high altitude areas of Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba districts. This was stated by Jai Ram Thakur, CM of Himachal Pradesh while presiding over review meeting of Budget Assurances for 2020-21. 

Efforts to register five Geographical indicators – 

The state government is planning to get GIs for Karsog Kulth, Thangi of Pangi,Metal craft of Chamba, Chukh of Chamba and Rajmah of Bharmour. This will not only provide better market linkage but will also strengthen the economy of these areas. 

War Jagir assistance increased from INR 5,000 to INR 7,000 – 

For the welfare of the freedom fighters and serving soldiers, the war jagir has been increased from INR 5,000 to INR 7,000. 

“Swadesh Darshan” Programme to boost religious tourism in the state – 

Detail Project Reports (DPRs) worth INR 100 crore have been sent to Union Government for approval under which Shivdham would be developed at Mandi, beautification of Rewalsar, Baba Nahar Singh Temple at Bilaspur, Kaleshwar temple in Dadasiba, Awaha Devi Temple at Hamirpur, Manikaran in Kullu and Trilokpur temple in Sirmaur, would be carried out. 

With an aim to boost tourism in the state, five new heliports would be constructed in different parts of the state. 

Initiatives to boost rural economy – 

Schemes such as Panchavati, Unnati etc are launched by state government for facilitating the people living in the rural areas.CM said that the government is planning to provide better opportunities for marketing the produce of rural artisans.
