Amrit Mahotsav

As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign initiated by the central government, a plantation drive has commenced.

Several project implementation units located in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, Krishnagiri, Puducherry, Salem, and Villupuram have participated in this initiative. They have planted saplings of native and fruit-bearing tree species, including neem, pungam, ficus, badam, naaval, as well as flowering shrubs like nerium, yellow oleander, and yellow trumpet flower.

On the Chennai-Tada section of NH5, a total of 7,670 plants measuring 60 cm in height have been planted in the median. Similarly, on the East Coast Road, specifically between Mamallapuram and Mugaiyur, coconut saplings were planted at Kadambadi. These efforts are part of the ongoing Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
