UIDAI Important Update: Birth Certificate Not Necessary For Baal Aadhaar Card

There is good news related to the Aadhar card. The Unique Identification Authority of India on 27th July (Tuesday) said that in order to apply for Baal Aadhar – you can use either his/her birth certificate or a discharge slip from hospital and Aadhar of one of the parents.

There is good news related to the Aadhar card. The Unique Identification Authority of India on 27th July (Tuesday) said that in order to apply for Baal Aadhar – you can use either his/her birth certificate or a discharge slip from hospital and Aadhar of one of the parents.

Therefore, if it’s urgent and parents cannot wait for the birth certificate, they can also use discharge certificate from the hospital along with Aadhar of any one of the parents & apply for Baal Aadhar card for the newly born baby. 

Rules of Aadhar Card Changed

Baal Aadhar is the blue colored variant of Aadhar card, which is issued for the children below 5 years of age. Now under the new rule of Baal Aadhar, no biometric details will be required for kids below 5 years. The need of the biometric has also been removed. However, when a child reaches the age of 5, a mandatory biometric update will be needed.

In a tweet UIDAI said, in Aadhar, fingerprints & iris scans are not captured while enrolling the children of below 5 years, only a photograph is taken. Once the child attains the age of 5, the biometric needs to be updated mandatorily.

The Required documents include passport, voter ID, PAN Card, driving license NAREGA job card, etc. Documents that can be used as the proof of address includes bank statement/passbook, passport, ration card, post office account statement etc. UIDAI said that if a child is an NRI, then a valid Indian passport of the child is mandatory as the proof of identity. 

How to apply for Baal Aadhar Card 

  • Visit the official website of UIDAI: https://uidai.gov.in/ 

  • Click on Aadhar Card registration link.

  • Enter all the credentials including the name of a child, parent’s phone number, E-mail address etc.

  • Fill in all demographic information such as residential address, district, locality, state, etc.

  • Proceed further & click on fixed appointment tab. Schedule the date of registration for Aadhar Card.

The Enrolment Process 

  • The applicant can choose nearest enrollment center to proceed further with enrollment process.

  • Carry all the required documents such as Proof of Identity, Proof of Address, Proof of Relationship & Date of Birth documents at enrollment center. Get all the documents checked by Aadhar officer present at the center.

  • Biometric data will be taken if your child is above 5 years of age. But, for the children below 5 years, biometric data will not require, only the demographic data & facial recognition will be required.

Baal Aadhar in 90 days

After this process, the parents will get an acknowledgement number to track process of their application. An SMS will be received on the registered mobile number with 60 days. And, after the completion of enrollment process, you will receive the Baal Aadhar Card within 90 days.
