"One Nation-One Fertilizer" (ONOF) will be applied from 02 October. Crop nutrients such as urea, di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), or muriate of potash (MOP) will be sold under the single brand name "Bharat" as part of the initiative,
regardless of the manufacturing companies, as part of the Pradhanmantri Bharatiya Janurvarak Pariyojana(PM-BJP), under the fertilizer subsidy scheme of the central government.
The ministry of chemicals and fertilizer has instructed all companies to use the new brand name — Bharat — and the logo of the subsidy scheme on the bags in order to convey the government's decision. The ministry determined to implement ONOF the one brand name for urea, DAP, MPO, and nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPKs) would be Bharat Urea, Bharat DAP, Bharat MON, and Bharat NPK for all fertilizer firms, according to the official letter released on Wednesday.
The letter also explains where to put the brand name, logo, and information about the manufacturing companies. It stated that the logo for the fertilizer subsidy scheme will be used on the outside of fertilizer bags.
Two-thirds of the printing space on the bag will be taken up by the new brand name and logo with the subsidy title, Pradhanmantri Bharatiya Janurvarak Pariyojana, and the remaining one-third will be utilized to print information about fertilizer firms, their symbol, and other required information.
The government asserts that a single brand name will reduce freight costs due to stopping of crisscross movement of fertilizers, speeding up the transit time, and guaranteeing fertilizer availability all year long irrespective of brand preferences. According to officials, it will also restrict urea from being diverted for industrial use. Farmers prefer buying the urea of their own choice.
Even though urea is the same irrespective of the brand, he won't purchase it if it's not available.
One of the motivations for ONOF is to stop these things since there is controversy over the fact that a particular brand of urea is not available on the market. The Government provides these products with a significant subsidy that exceeds the maximum retail price; as a result, the subsidy scheme will also be disclosed on the bag, according to an official.
