Weather Alert! Heavy Rain & Thunder squall likely over These Regions in Next 5 Days

The convergence of moist southwesterly winds in the lower levels aided by favourable upper-level wind pattern is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers over Northeast India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura) and Eastern states (West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar) during next 5-7 days, reported Indian Meteorological Department weather forecast morning bulletin.

The convergence of moist southwesterly winds in the lower levels aided by favourable upper-level wind pattern is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers over Northeast India (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura) and Eastern states (West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar) during next 5-7 days, reported Indian Meteorological Department weather forecast morning bulletin. Moreover, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and occasional thunder squalls (wind speed 50-60 kmph and more), hailstorms at isolated places are also likely over these regions during this period.

Heavy rain along with hail & gusty winds to lash over Western Himalayan Region and Plains of Northwest India

A fresh feeble Western Disturbance and its interaction with low-level easterlies is likely to cause isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over Western Himalayan Region and plains of northwest India mainly during 10th to 13th May, 2020. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, hail and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places also likely over these regions during same period.

Due to trough/wind discontinuity, isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers very likely over central & south peninsular India during next 5 days. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, hail and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places also likely over these regions during same period. Presence of cyclonic circulations in the lower and mid-levels are also likely to cause squally weather (wind speed occasionally reaching 40-50 kmph) over south Andaman Sea and Lakshadweep area during next 2-3 days.

Maximum Temperatures likely to remain between 41-44°C over some parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka during next 2-3 days.

As per yesterday’s report, rain/thundershowers observed at many places over Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Assam & Meghalaya, North Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe and south Tamilnadu.

Rainfall recorded (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday) (1 cm or more):- Kanyakumari & Aminidevi-6 each; Malanjkhand & Thiruvananthapuram-3 each; Raipur-2 and Punalur, Gulbarga, Nancowry, Mayabandar, Itanagar, Cherrapunji, Passighat & Dibrugarh-1 each.

Yesterday, Heat Wave conditions were observed at isolated places over West Rajasthan.

Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and West Rajasthan while minimum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over West Rajasthan; at a few places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Marathwada.
