The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall advisory predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in several regions of the country over the next few days. South Interior Karnataka and Gujarat Region are likely to experience isolated heavy downpours, while Assam, Meghalaya, Saurashtra, and Kutch are also on alert for significant rainfall.
Other regions likely to see heavy rainfall include West Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Kerala, and Mahe. These areas are expected to receive isolated but intense showers as part of ongoing monsoon activity.
East and Northeast India
Northeastern states are forecast to experience widespread light to moderate rainfall throughout the week. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, with isolated heavy rainfall predicted in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. The rain is likely to peak on October 3 in these regions. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will also receive light to moderate rainfall, while the Andaman & Nicobar Islands will see scattered showers.
Southern India
Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu are forecast to receive fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, with isolated heavy showers likely in North Interior Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala between September 30 and October 4. Rayalaseema and Telangana will also witness light to moderate rain during this period.
Northwest, West, and Central India
In contrast, the IMD predicts minimal rainfall for Northwest, West, and Central India in the upcoming week, providing relief from wet weather in these regions.
With considerable rains expected in several areas of the country, especially in the northeast and south, this forecast highlights the importance of being prepared.
