Weather India: IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert over These States; Assam Flood Situation Improves

The IMD in its morning bulletin said that the western part of the monsoon trough is in its near normal position. However, eastern part continues to be situated to the north of normal position. Under these influences, some northern and southern states are likely to get heavy shower.

Monsoon has brought heavy shower and unprecedented storm in many parts of the country which is affecting Kharif Sowing. The weather department of India has recently said in its morning bulletin that the western part of the monsoon trough is in its near normal position. However, eastern part continues to be situated to the north of normal position. Under these influences, some northern and southern states are likely to get heavy rainfall.

Assam flood situation improves, 10.63 lakh affected

The flood situation in Assam improved further on Saturday as water receded from one more district, though 10.63 lakh people across 20 districts are still affected by the calamity, an official bulletin said here.

The east-west shear zone in the mid levels has shifted slightly northwards since yesterday. Lower level westerlies along the west coast has further strengthened. Remnant of a low pressure system from the east is likely to emerge into north Bay of Bengal and under its influence, a Low Pressure. Area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around 04th August. As a consequence of enhanced north-south pressure gradient, the monsoon flow is likely to strengthen further from 03rd August.

Heavy Rainfall Prediction for These States

Under the above scenario, the following significant weather are very likely:
i) Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka & adjoining ghat districts of South Interior Karnataka and isolated heavy falls over Kerala on 01st & 02nd August. The Intensity would further increase from 03rd August when Konkan & Goa is likely to experience heavy to very heavy falls at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places during 3-5 Aug. Similar increase is likely over parts of Madhya Maharashtra including the ghat areas during 04th-05th August. Heavy to very heavy falls at a few places likely over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over Kerala during 03rd-05th August.

ii) Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over Odisha and Chhattisgarh and heavy falls over Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal mainly during 04th & 05th August.

iii) Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat are also likely to experience gradual increase in intensity & spatial distribution of rainfall during 03rd-05th August.

iv) Andaman Islands are likely to experience thundersqualls accompanied with heavy to very heavy falls during 01st-03rd August.

Moderate to severe thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places very likely over south Haryana, Chandigarh, Eastcentral Punjab, westcentral & southeast Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar, south Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, east & southwest Rajasthan, northeast & southwest Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during next 12 hours.

Maximum & Minimum Temperature:

Maximum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Vidarbha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Chhattisgarh while minimum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over
Saurashtra & Kutch and West Madhya Pradesh; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°)
