Western Disturbance Prevails
A fresh Western disturbance is poised to influence the western Himalayan region, bringing isolated to scattered light rainfall/snowfall from February 25 to 27, 2024. This disturbance is expected to trigger thunderstorms and lightning over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on February 26, 2024. Additionally, from February 29 of February to March 4, an active Western Disturbance is forecasted to impact the Western Himalayan Region and adjoining plains, with peak intensity anticipated on March 2 and 3. During this period, heavy rainfall/snowfall is expected, fueled by high moisture feeding from the Arabian Sea to northwest India.
In Arunachal Pradesh, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall/snowfall is expected for the next 6-7 days, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning on February 25. Northeastern regions like Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura can expect isolated light to moderate rainfall on February 25, 28 and 29, 2024.
In central and eastern India, a trough running from Chhattisgarh to north Tamil Nadu is likely to bring isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms & lightning from February 25 to 27, 2024 over various regions. These include Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Telangana, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, and West Madhya Pradesh.
In southern India, hot and humid weather is expected over Kerala, Tamil Nadu on the 25th and 26th of February, and over Rayalaseema during February 25 to 27, 2024
