Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), in collaboration with the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCAI), held a workshop recently on "Greening India Through Renewables" in Pune, Maharashtra.

Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA, urged Maharashtra's industry leaders and investors to pay attention to the Renewable Energy (RE) sector and invest in RE projects that not only generate clean energy but also reduce CO2 emissions and improve the quality of life in his keynote address. He went on to say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an ambitious target of 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030, and Maharashtra can make a significant contribution to this goal by utilizing its green energy potential.

Das emphasized IREDA's commitment to the development of renewable energy projects in all states, including Maharashtra, noting that a total loan of Rs. 1,20,946 crores sanctioned by IREDA included Rs. 14,445 crores for 422 RE project accounts in Maharashtra.

Out of a total loan disbursement of Rs. 79,446 crores, the company has disbursed Rs. 10,018 crores in Maharashtra. IREDA sanctioned a loan of Rs. 2,564 crores for 12 RE project accounts in Maharashtra and disbursed Rs. 1362 crores during FY 2021-22.

Despite the COVID-19 epidemic, CMD, IREDA praised the company's exceptional financial achievements over the last two years, stating that the company's historic financial results would not have been possible without the combined efforts of all departments.

He emphasized that IREDA may be the only CPSE to publish its audited financial results on April 30th, 2022, just 30 days after the end of March. He went on to say that the driving forces behind such outstanding achievements are teamwork, honesty, transparency, and commitment to stakeholders.

Chintan Shah, Director (Technical), IREDA, delivered the theme presentation. He stated that India can change the landscape of the renewable energy sector by developing an ecosystem for RE manufacturing and storage manufacturing. IREDA is financing RE manufacturing at competitive interest rates in addition to other RE sectors. This will benefit the domestic manufacturing industry.

In his welcome address, Prashant Girbane, Director General of MCCAI, stated that greening India through renewables is critical for lowering energy costs and creating job opportunities. Deepak Karandikar, Vice-President, MCCAI, and Rajesh Mutha, President, Maharashtra Solar Manufactures Association (MASM), spoke on behalf of the industry about the challenges in the development of the RE sector.
