World Food India 2023 roundtable interaction was recently, co-chaired by the Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in New Delhi. 

The roundtable brought together leading global and Indian agri-food processing companies to discuss their future plans and prospects of partnership with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) for the upcoming World Food India-2023 event.

World Food India-2023, scheduled to take place from November 3-5, 2023, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, aims to showcase the tremendous potential and growth opportunities in the food processing sector. The event is a follow-up to the highly successful 2017 edition and is expected to be even bigger this time.

During the interaction, the Secretary of DPIIT emphasized the significant contribution of the manufacturing sector to India's growing GDP. He highlighted the favorable agro-climatic zones in the country, which not only support the production of a wide range of agri-commodities like cereals, pulses, fruits, and vegetables but also enable large-scale processing.

In her keynote address, the Secretary of MoFPI underlined the immense growth and vast opportunities present in the food processing sector. She extended a warm invitation to all companies to participate in World Food India-2023 with great enthusiasm.

The participating companies expressed their optimistic outlook on the Indian market and commended the government's efforts to improve the business environment. They particularly appreciated the favorable policies such as the Production Linked Incentive Scheme and the flagship Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana initiated by MoFPI.

The companies also expressed their interest in participating in World Food India-2023, showing a willingness to sponsor the event and showcase their products and technologies through dedicated stall spaces. Several companies also expressed their desire to collaborate with MoFPI for the planned sessions during the event.

In closing remarks, the Additional Secretary of MoFPI announced that the Investment Facilitation Cell (Invest India) and event partner FICCI would remain in contact with the participating companies to finalize the participation details. EY has been appointed as the knowledge partner for the event, further enhancing its expertise and value.
