In recent years, we've seen a tremendous shift in attitude toward healthy living. The pandemic, in particular, has moved our focus to our health, with a particular emphasis on food to prevent various ailments. However, the World Health Organization has long worked to raise awareness about health and health-related concerns, as well as how to address them.

The organization has even declared the 7th of April as World Health Day, with different themes focused on current health issues that require immediate attention each year. World Health Day was first proposed in 1948 during the inaugural World Health Assembly, and it was first commemorated in 1950.

World Health Day 2022 Theme:

Last year's theme for World Health Day 2021 was "building a fairer, healthier world for everyone," which focused on improving good health for people of all ages, races, religions, and socioeconomic statuses.

'Our Planet, Our Health' is the theme for World Health Day 2022. The theme for this year is to focus global attention on the health of our planet and the people who live on it.

"In the face of a pandemic, a polluted planet, and rising diseases such as cancer, asthma, and heart disease, WHO will focus global attention on urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being on World Health Day 2022," the WHO wrote on its official website.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 13 million deaths are caused by avoidable environmental factors each year. This includes the climate crisis, which is the world's single greatest health concern. The climatic emergency is also a health emergency.

While there is little that ordinary people can do to change climatic conditions, everyone can improve their health by eating a healthy diet. When we think about environmental variables that can harm our health, pollution is the first thing that comes to mind. As a result, eating a diet rich in foods that can help reduce air pollution symptoms may be a smart idea for everyone.

5 Foods That Can Help Fight Effects Of Air Pollution:

Turmeric

Turmeric (Haldi), a magical spice recognized for its high anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial capabilities, is one of the finest meals to fend off not just climate-related illnesses, but also a variety of other diseases.

Spinach

"Chlorophyll gives the vegetable its green color, and it is the same chlorophyll that also gives spinach its powerful antioxidant and anti-mutagenic characteristics that are known to be wonderful for lung health," says nutritionist Rupali Datta.

Tomatoes

Almost every recipe calls for the bright red vegetable. "Adults who ate more than two tomatoes a day had a slower rate of natural lung function decline," according to a study published in the European Respiratory Journal.

Broccoli

Broccoli includes sulforaphane, an anti-carcinogenic chemical that helps flush out pollutants associated with air pollution, according to a study published by Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health.

 Flaxseed

These seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids, which have been demonstrated to benefit the cardiovascular system by minimizing the effects of smog. Phytoestrogens, which are also found in flaxseeds, are antioxidants that protect the lungs from a variety of pollution-related illnesses.

Make a promise to yourself and your family to live a healthy and happy life on World Health Day 2022. Start by eating a balanced diet.
