  • ICRISAT Proposes Cost-Effective Climate-Smart Agri-Practices

    Protecting agriculture from the negative effects of climate change is not an expensive proposition, contrary to popular belief. Scientists from the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) conducted a pilot in Telangana's rain-fed districts and advocated for the promotion of climate-smart villages (CSV) to ensure sustainable agricultural production by increasing resilience to climate change.

    Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, laid the foundation stone for the Indo-Israel Center of Excellence for Vegetables in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli district via video conferencing. Speaking on the occasion, Tomar said that the Central and State Governments are collaborating to boost agriculture sector.

    Best Agrolife Ltd, India’s fastest-growing agrochemical company has reported strong financial results for the first quarter ended 30th June, 2022. It posted a multi-fold jump in its consolidated revenue at Rs 463.7 Crores jumping 49.9% QoQ. The EBITDA stood at Rs 65.9 crores, displaying an 82.7% YoY growth and 6.1 % QoQ growth in the first quarter of the current fiscal, the company said in its statement.

    The ethanol production in Maharashtra is likely to reach 140 crore litre next year, sugar industry representatives have said. In the future, the demand for fuel will be more than for food. "Hence, the sugar industry in Maharashtra will also be called the energy industry in times to come," as per Jayprakash Dandegavkar, Chairman, National Federation of Co-operative Sugar Factories Limited.
