Update on efforts to double Farmer's Income
Narendra Singh Tomar, the Agriculture Minister, said that Government is working to double the Farmer's Income, its ambitious plan that it announced in 2016. Government announced that this goal will be achieved by 2022 and the minister listed the steps that have been taken in this direction. Government has announced a number of programs, policies and schemes to achieve this goal.

More farmers from UP join the farmer's protest
Rallies are being held across western UP in support of the continuing Farmer's agitation. These farmer's said that so far very few farmers from UP have reached Delhi to join the agitation although the support base comprises almost the entire farming community of UP.

Weather conditions normal all over Uttarakhand
The weather conditions which brought flash floods across Chamoli in Uttarakhand have now calmed down. The outlook for the entire week is sunny with no or very mild rains in some regions. If the weather continues this way than there will not be too many difficulties for the rescue workers in Chamoli.

Deep Sidhu arrested on suspicion of inciting violence at Red Fort
Police had announced cash reward for information about the violence that took place at Red fort on 26th January. This led to the arrest of Deep Sidhu, who has been accused of encouraging violence at the Red Fort. He denies any involvement.

Cabinet Committee approves Grant of 100 crores to BVFCL
Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizers Corporation Limited (BVFCL), Namrup (Assam) will be given Rs. 100 crore to sustain operations of it's urea manufacturing units. Department of fertilizer, administrator of this corporation, had made a proposal for this Grant-in-aid which has been approved by the cabinet committee on Economic affairs chaired by the Prime Minister.

Exports of Indian cereals rise impressively
Exports of Indian cereals like rice, wheat and coarse cereals, have increased impressively, almost 50%, in the April-December 2020 period compared to the same period in the previous year. This increase in export of cereals has been attributed to the several measures taken by the government in terms of ensuring safety and hygiene during the COVID19 pandemic.

NDA invests 400% more in agriculture
The current NDA government has invested in agriculture budget more that 400% than the previous UPA government. The agriculture budget allocated between 2009 and 2014 was Rs 88,811 crore which was increased to Rs 4,87,238 crore between 2014 and 2020.

Sachin Pilot holds rally in Bharatpur in support of farmer agitation
Rahul Gandhi is planning a visit to Rajasthan in support of the farmer agitations. In support of this visit former Congress Deputy CM of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot gave speech at a rally in Bharatpur, encouraging the youth among farmers to keep up their good work. He said his party has struggled with the farmers and will bring change in the country.
