  • FCI Sells 5.39 LMT of Wheat to 1248 Bidders in Its 5th e-Auction

    A total of 11.88 LMT of wheat was offered, with 5.39 LMT sold to 1,248 bidders from 23 states, according to a statement from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution. According to the food ministry, approximately 23.47 lakh tonnes of wheat were sold under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) to bulk users in the previous four rounds as part of steps to reduce retail prices of food grain and wheat flour.

     

  • NBM Conducts National Workshop of Bamboo Sector Development & Bamboo Exhibition in New Delhi

    On March 10, 2023, the National Bamboo Mission (NBM) held "The National Workshop of Bamboo Sector Development" in New Delhi. Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, opened the workshop. Likhi spoke about the Ministry's efforts to assist the National Bamboo Mission in strengthening the value chain, enabling producers through incentives, and ensuring the last mile effectiveness of government schemes, and thanked Invest India for organizing the event.

     

  • Japan Organizes Washoku Chef’s World Championship to Promote Japanese Cuisine

    Tokyo recently hosted the Washoku World Championship. The event, now in its tenth year, aims to elevate Japanese cuisine to new heights. A total of 139 chefs applied for the competition, with 6 making it through the preliminary rounds and onto the finals. The "Washoku World Challenge" was organized with the support of Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in order to promote and export Japanese cuisine to other countries.

     

  • HUL Appoints Rohit Jawa as MD & CEO, to Replace Sanjiv Mehta

    Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has named Rohit Jawa as its new managing director and CEO, effective June 27, 2023. He will succeed Sanjiv Mehta, who is set to leave the company after a decade in charge. Jawa will join the company on April 1 as CEO-designate and full-time director. He will also take over as president of Unilever South Asia, the company announced in a stock exchange filing on Friday.
