  • These States Likely to Receive Light Rainfall

    On 14th December (Tuesday), the India Meteorological Department predicted that the northern parts of Punjab-Haryana-West Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive light rain from 16th December. The weather departments have forecasted that there is the possibility of another Western Disturbance from the night of 15th December. This will further cause lower the level Easterlies, thereby paving way for the cloudiness & light rain over northern parts of Punjab, Haryana & West Uttar Pradesh.

  • Assam Specialty Tea Auctioned for “Record” Rs 99,999 per kg

    On 14th December (Tuesday), a specialty tea from Assam’ Dibrugarh district was auctioned for Rs 99,999 per kg the “highest price” ever fetched in any tea auction in the whole country, an official said. The Manohari Tea Estate sold 1 kg of its “Manohari Gold” variety to Sourabh Tea Traders Gauhati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) Secretary Priyanuz Dutta said.

     

     

  • Colored Teas Became Menace in South India, Maharashtra

    The colored trees or teas mixed with the colors to give them a rich golden hue are becoming a menace in the southern states & Maharashtra. The apex body of packet tea players, the Federation of All India Traders Association (FAITTA), which has the representatives from some of the leading packet tea players such as Tata Global Beverages, HUL & Wagh Bakri, has taken up the issue with Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) so that the sales of colored tea can be checked and consumers are not duped.

  • Indonesia Issues Tsunami Warning after Earthquake of Magnitude 7.5

    On 14th December (Tuesday), a powerful 7. 4 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Indonesia triggering a tsunami warning, the meteorological department said, but there was no immediate word on any causalities or damage. The earthquake struck at 0320 GMT in the Flores Sea about 112 km (70 miles) northwest of the town of Larantuka, in the eastern part of Flores Island, at a depth of 12 km.
