  • WPI FOOD INDEX decreases

    The Food Index consisting of 'Food Articles' from Primary Articles group and 'Food Product' from Manufactured Products has decreased. It has lowered  from 154.4 in December, 2020 to 151.8 in January, 2021. The rate of inflation based on WPI Food Index decreased from 0.92% in December, 2020 to -0.26% in January, 2021.

  • Farmers to be compensated for losses

    Even though there have been no major calamities across India, the state governments are withdrawing from SDRF and NDRF. This is done for the lesser reported natural calamities, adverse weather conditions and to stabilize farmer income, for which State governments can withdraw up to 10 percent from these funds.

  • Seed production promoted by Indian Government

    Under ‘Sub-Mission on Seeds & Planting Materials’ the government is promoting the production and supply of quality seeds to farmers. For this purpose seed-processing and seed-storage godowns are being built and government is encouraging private companies to invest in high quality seeds production. Also National Seed Reserve and seed village programme are being used for this purpose. The government is working towards improving its quality control facilities.

    Agitating farmers are planning to send their leaders on a tour of India, to tell the public what they are doing and why and to garner more support for their campaign.

  • Climate activist arrested for uploading protest Toolkit

    Disha Ravi, resident of Bangalore and Climate activist has been arrested by the Delhi Police for uploading protest Toolkit on Internet.

  • Developing Maps in India made easier

    The Department of Science and Technology is announcing changes to India’s mapping policy, specifically for Indian companies. Anyone interested in creating maps will not have to through the hassle of multiple levels of bureaucracy. The map creators will be trusted by the government and the public.

  • Two states count for 74.72% of the total active COVID cases

    Kerala and Maharashtra together count for 74.72% of active cases in the country. 33 States and UT out of total Indian territories count for less than 5,000 active cases in the last 24 hours. India’s total current active cases currently stands at 1,39,637 today.
