Today, the 82nd day of the 'Delhi Chalo' demonstrations at New Delhi boundary areas. A sit-in protest along the Delhi border is being staged by thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab and Haryana. The protest began on 26 November, 2020.

Farmers are seeking a complete reversal of the recent farm reform laws and the retention of a pledge for the minimum support price (MSP) scheme. Many rounds of talks between the Center and the leaders of the farmers' union have resulted in a stalemate. Protesting farmers expect the dismantling of the MSP scheme and corporate farming by the new rules. 

India will not be suppressed: Rahul Gandhi on Disha’s arrest 

On Monday, the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the government one day after Disha Ravi's arrest and non-bailable warrants were released towards Nikita Jacob and Shantanu on the issue of toolkits and said that India was not to be "silenced" In his tweet Rahul Gandhi cited a Hindi couplet saying: "India won't be silenced" 

Toolkit Case: Nikita Jacob switches HC for a transit bail 

The lawyer, Nikita Jacob, accused of protesting against the Bombay High Court on Monday for transit bail on a case filed by a Delhi police "toolkit" posted by environment activist Greta Thunburg. A non-bailable warrant has been released against Jacob and another complainant in the case by a Delhi judge. Jacob has referred to Judge PD Naik's request for an immediate hearing before the Single Bench of Justice of the Bombay High Court on Monday. The court ruled on Tuesday that it will hear the plea. In her appeal, Jacob applied for a four-week bail in advance to apply for a pre-arrest bail in Delhi so that she will be able to come to the court in question. 

The Delhi Police has announced that after the 21-year-old climate activist Disha Ravi, non-bailable warrants have been released against two additional suspects in the 'toolkit' case of Greta Thunberg. In accordance with the investigation, the police reported that there have been warrants released against activist Nikita Jacob and Shantanu. 

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal calls the arrest of Disha Ravi 'a never-ending Democracy Strike' 

The arrest of environment activist Disha Ravi has been labelled "an unprecedented strike at democracy" by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Ravi of Bengaluru was arrested on 13 February by a Delhi police cyber cell unit, reportedly sharing the "toolkit" affiliated with the farmer's agitation against the Center's 3 agrarian reform rules, with Greta Thunberg. She was brought before a Court in Delhi on 14 February and sentenced to five days in police detention.

If Disha Ravi has become a national danger, the Indian State must stand on very shaky foundations. A "toolkit" to help demonstrations by farmers is more risky than interference into indigenous territories by Chinese troops! "P Chidambaram, the chief of Congress tweets. 

Candle march for Pulwama martyrs being held by demonstrating farmers 

On Sundays farmers expressed their unity with CRPF families of the jawans killed in the Pulwama terrorist attack by demonstrating against the agricultural laws of the Center in the Gazipur frontier. The march was attended by people from kids to retired servants. On Sunday there were up to 13 retired Servicemen on a hunger strike to support farmers.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh stunned senior BJP politicians, including Ministers for Union and Haryana Agriculture, on Sunday's deaths of protesting farmers saying the group had lost the spiritual and ethical right to stay in the centre and state to govern. The Chief Minister, who was surprised at Tomar over his "outlandish claim" citing the police knowledge of Delhi that only 2 farmers have expired and one has committed suicide, said the chief minister already paid compensation for families of 102 farmers killed in these demonstration.
