  • IMD Issues Sound Alert For Heavy Rains To Continue In These States

    Heavy rains are expected in Andaman and Nicobar today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Furthermore, a wet period is expected to persist for the next several days in a few states, including Tamil Nadu and Kerala, due to the effect of a new western disturbance and the circulations caused by it, the weather agency said in its forecast on Tuesday. In the meantime, temperatures are expected to soar in most sections of the country during the following few days.

  • Himachal Pradesh To Grant Revised Pension For 1.73 Lakh Pensioners

    From February 1, 2022, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to award amended pensions and family pensions to roughly 1.73 lakh retirees in the state. Around 43,000 employees who retired between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2021 will now receive revised pension and gratuity payments. From January 1, 2016, the minimum pension and family pension will increase from $3,500 to $9,000 per month as a result of the change. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over a state cabinet meeting that made the decision.

  • India’s Coal Production Up By 6% In January From Pre-Pandemic Level

    In January 2022, India's coal output increased 6.13 percent to 79.60 million tonne, up from 75 million tonne in January 2020. The Ministry of Coal indicated in a statement that coal production in FY22 was compared to FY20 because FY21 was considered a "abnormal year" due to the pandemic's devastating impact. According to the ministry's preliminary data, Coal India produced 64.50 million tonne in January, representing a 2.35 percent increase over the same month last year. Singareni Collieries increased production by 5.42 percent, to 6.03 million tonnes.

  • Textile Ministry Extends the TimeLine for The Submission of PLI Applications

    The Ministry of Textiles said on Monday that the deadline for submitting applications under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for textiles has been extended by another 14 days, until February 28. The deadline for submitting an online application under the PLI scheme for textiles had been extended from January 31 to Monday. The government approved the PLI plan for textiles in December, granting incentives of Rs 10,683 crore over five years for the manufacture of man-made Fibre apparels such as jerseys, overcoats, trousers, shifting, and so on, as well as man-made Fibre fabrics and technological textiles.
