  • IMD Predicts Heavy Rains In These States

    On 18th October (Monday) the India Meteorological Department said that fairly widespread to moderate rainfall activity along with heavy to very showers are likely to occur over the isolated places in Uttarakhand & Uttar Pradesh. The weather departments have also predicted that Uttarakhand & western Uttar Pradesh will witness heavy to very heavy rains in the coming days.

  • Tea Exports Down By 14% In 7 Months

    The exports of tea from India have registered a fall of around 14.4% in the first 7 months of 2021 as compared to the same period last year in 2020. The total exports of the beverage from January to July of 2021 were 100.78 million kilograms as against the 117.56 million kilograms in the same period of 2020.

     

  • Heavy Rains Concerns Coal Shortages May Linger

    The possibility of torrential rains & flooding in some of India’s coal-producing states is threatening to stretch out the shortage of fuel as supplies to the power plants rise. Heavy rains are expected to lash out parts of Jharkhand, Odisha & West Bengal- all the major coal-producing provinces.

  • Punjab Government Waives Pending Water Bills

    On 18th October (Monday) the government of Punjab announced to waive the water bill arrears for both urban & rural area consumers. The relief was announced in view of upcoming assembly polls early next year. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that “We are waiving the water bill arrears of Rs 700 crore of all cities” this will however put an additional burden of about Rs 1,800 crore on the state.
