Bharatiya Kisan Sangh Warns of Nationwide Protests against Agriculture Laws
Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) has warned of a nationwide protest from 8 September onwards if the Central Government fails to act on its demands on Agri Laws & Minimum Support Price (MSP) by the end of August. It said that the MSP should be decided on the basis of cost, and a new law must be framed, keeping in mind the concerns raised by farmers, to resolve the clash arising out of the new farm laws.

Weather Alert! Light Rainfall in Delhi Today
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi will witness light rainfall along with thunderstorms today (24 August 2021). The maximum temperature in Delhi will be 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to be around 27 degrees Celsius. The city will also receive light showers on 27, 28 August, along with the possibility of thundershowers on 29, 30 August

Odisha Looking For Ways to Provide Marketing Facilities for Cash Crops
In another important step towards doubling farmers’ income, Odisha Chief Secretary, Suresh Chandra Mahapatra has asked the department of Agriculture and farmers’ empowerment & Cooperation to plan out a Joint Marketing Frame (JMF) with the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED). Taking into account the possibilities for joint marketing of cash crops, Chief Secretary directed the departments of agriculture, horticulture, scheduled tribe & scheduled caste development to recognize the cash-crops that can be promoted for increasing the famers’ income.

Postal Department has invited application to fill 4,264 vacancies of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) in the Uttar Pradesh circle. A Weed Wiper developed by scientists at the Kerala Agricultural University has been awarded a patent. The invention of KAU Weed Wiper has given new direction to the efforts for countering the growth of weedy rice in paddy fields of the State. Weedy rice is a product of natural hybridisation between cultivated rice and wild rice.
