  • 'Cyclone Gulab' to Bring Heavy Rainfall in Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh; Alert Issued

    The Indian Meteorological Department said that heavy rainfall is expected in many parts of West Bengal as a cyclone alert has been issued for Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. IMD further said a depression over the northeast and neighboring east-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression that can further concentrate into 'Cyclone Gulab' and move towards north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha.

  • Odisha’s First Silk Yarn Production Centre to Generate Employment; Boost Local Silk Industry

    Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has taken a special initiative to set up Odisha’s first ever Tussar Silk Yarn Production Centre at Choudwar in Cuttack district. This silk yarn production centre would ensure local availability of Tussar Silk yarn, generate local employment and cut the silk production cost.

    Tamil Nadu has urged the farmers in the state to take benefit of Central Government’s Crop Insurance Scheme. Samba paddy, maize, cotton and onion growers have been asked to apply for the scheme in 2 months. The TN Government has introduced the Uzhavan App to facilitate registration.

  • Orissa High Court Asks Authorities Not To Take Action Against Prawn Farmers Till 16 Nov

    The High Court in Orissa has set 16 November deadline to take a decision on petitions filed by the prawn farmers demanding intervention against demolition of their farms. On 18th August, the court had asked the State authorities not to take any action against the prawn farmers till the officers are able to confirm that their farms are operating within the banned area.

  • Two-day North East Summit on Food Processing Industries at IIM Shillong Begins

    Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Minister of State for Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Ministry of Jal Shakti inaugurated a two-day North East Summit on Food Processing Opportunities on 24 September 2021 in Shillong, Meghalaya. The minister formally initiated the Summit at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong with the aim of developing partnerships for inclusive growth in the food processing sector.

  • Withdrawal of Monsoon to Start by First Week of October: Weather Department

    The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, the Southwest Monsoon is most likely to begin withdrawal from parts of northwest India by the mid of October first week. If is important to mention that 2021 can be the second most delayed start of monsoon retreat i.e. in October.
