The online market or mandi started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government to double farmers’ income has turned successful today. According to the data released by the government, so far around 1.64 crore farmers of the country have registered themselves at this online platform, which is known as National Agricultural Market Scheme (e-NAM).

It is important to mention that till 2017 only 17000 farmers were associated with this e-mandi. e-NAM is an online agricultural portal whose main task is to connect all Agri Product Marketing Committee across India into one single network. Its objective is to provide a market for agricultural products at the national level. Seeing the benefits from this, farmers are increasingly engaging with it. Farmers' income will definitely increase by 2022 if they obtain good prices of agricultural products through the National Agriculture Market.

585 mandis of India have been linked with the Internet – The agricultural produce markets located in different states of the country have been connected through the Internet under the e-NAM. Its main target is to make the entire country into one market place. For instance, if a farmer from Gorakhpur wants to sell his produce in Bihar, then it has become easier for him to carry and market his agricultural produce with the help of e-NAM.

Because of e-NAM, now there is no broker or middlemen between the farmer and the buyer. Not only farmers but customers also get its benefits. In this trade between farmers and traders, the interest of the local agricultural produce market will not be harmed in any way because the entire trade will be through it.

The biggest problem for a farmer is to get a good market and better price of his product. And e-NAM here solves all his problems.

What is e-NAM?

National Agriculture Market or e-NAM is an online trading platform to sell various agricultural commodities in the country. The market facilitates farmers, traders & buyers with online trading in commodities. It also helps farmers get better price and provide facilities for smooth marketing of their produce.
